What is Reformer or Apparatus Pilates?

Reformer or Apparatus exercises are those performed on pieces of equipment that utilize springs, gears, straps and ropes to provide resistance to both aid and challenge.  Many of the exercises on the apparatus are similar to Mat work but the equipment can support a beginning student, allow an experienced student to find deeper connections, and add resistance to a more athletic client.
